      About
                            Torrylin Cairn

Torrylin Cairn is accessed via a short path from Kilmory (known locally as Lover's Lane) and is managed by Historic Environment Scotland. The Cairn is much-disturbed today, having been robbed, ploughed and dumped upon for years. But its exposed burial chamber lies well-preserved, enabling us to examine a Neolithic resting place. The cairn is a typical Clyde type tomb, and there’s evidence that ritual and burial activity both took place here. It was originally likely similar to the relatively undisturbed cairn on Carn Ban, nearby on Arran. Worth walking to, and completing the circular route along Kilmory beach and back via the farm-track to the main road.
