About Seamill
Seamill village is right on a stretch of several sandy beaches in North Ayrshire overlooking the Isle of Arran. Seamill is named after one of its oldest buildings, the Sea Mill, a grain watermill that appears in 17th Century maps. Seamill is seamlessly connected to West Kilbride, with Seamill having the main A78 route going through it.
West Kilbride Golf Club, a links course alongside The Ayrshire Coastal Path, is actually in Seamill and has hosted many international golf tournaments in its nearly 125 years history.
Apart from the sandy beaches, walks and golf, Seamill has three hotels all with restaurants. Two of these hotels are the only two right on the 3 Ayrshire’s 100 mile long coastline. The oldest hotel, much expanded and modernised is The Seamill Hydro Hotel, a former hydropathic hotel. It has The Orangery Restaurant, The Aura Bar and a leisure centre with pool. The Waterside Hotel is also on the beach and has extensive Al Fresco dining. The Seamill House Hotel is the smallest of the 3 and has The View Restaurant on its 1st floor with views across the estuary to Arran.
All three hotels are ideal for the Arran Ferry sailing out of Ardrossan, 5 miles south of Seamill or the Largs Ferry 7 miles north of Seamill for Big Cumbrae and Millport. The Bute ferry at Wemyss Bay is about 10 miles north of the village.
