About West Island Way
The West Island Way is a long distance walking path route on the Island of Bute. It offers a stunning varierty of scenery, from seashore and moorlandto farmland and forestry. It passes by iconic views over Loch Fad near Rothesay town but also highlights some of Bute’s rich history such as the medieval St Blane’s Chapel at the south of the island to the abandoned townships in Glen More at the north end.

With many walkers choosing to start in Rothesay, the route is clearly signposted. Maps are also available in various locations around Rothesay.

The route is 30 miles long, with walkers usally finishing it in two full-day walks or four half-day walks.
