About
Lochranza Distillery
The award winning Lochranza Distillery is one of two distilleries that you can visit during your trip to the Isle of Arran. Their sister distillery at Lagg is also open for visitors to tour and taste some of the delicious whisky that the island produces.
There’s something magical about the alchemy of whisky making, and there’s no better way to appreciate it than by visiting a distillery. As one of the few independent distilleries in Scotland - and one that proudly follows traditional practice - the team in Lochranza promises a particularly fascinating experience. The Visitor Centre was recently awarded Best Visitor Experience 2018 by the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions, having previously been awarded Best Contribution to Wine & Spirits Tourism by the prestigious Drinks Business Magazine in 2017. The team there pride themselves on offering the warmest of welcomes to their home village of Lochranza.
Visitors are welcome all year round, with tours of the distillery as well as tutored tastings, whisky and chocolate pairings and short 'Drop Inn' tours in between the main tours which are great for families with young children. Numbers for all tours are limited, so booking in advance is advisable especially during the very busy summer months. The Visitor Centre, shop and CASKS Cafe are open every day if you’d just like to drop in and soak up the uniquely calming atmosphere. CASKS Cafe serves a variety of soups, local cheese and meat platters and of course a selection of coffees, teas and home baking.
