McLellan Festival: Candide - The Best of all Possible Worlds

A Community Production written and devised by John Harvey inspired by the original piece by Voltaire. Loosely based on Voltaires Candide, we follow our hero as he confronts love, war, despair, cruelty, famine, ignorance and natural disasters in his struggle to accept his teachers belief that all is for the best. Share our black comedy where, in Brechts words People laugh because they have not heard the bad news yet and meet the two war-mongers, the one-buttocked woman, the short-sighted army, the volcano family and Professor Pangloss, Candide's tutor, who might well be speaking of the world we live in today.
