Dalmellington

Dalmellington is a picturesque market town in East Ayrshire near to the Rye Burn. It has a population of around 1400 people.
The town has an interesting history as a rest area, weaving centre and mining village. Poet and blacksmith, Robert Hetrick, lived in the town in the 19th century.
There are many Sites of Special Scientific Interest around Dalmellington such as the close by, Loch Doon. The Scottish Dark Sky Observatory is also near to the town Dalmellington which attracts many visitors.
