Boyd Orr Garden

Dedicated to Lord John Boyd Orr (b.1880-d.1971) who lived in the village as a young man. John Boyd Orr was a Scottish teacher, medical doctor, biologist, nutritional physiologist, politician, businessman and farmer who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (1949) for his scientific research into nutrition and his work as the first Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
